Clinical Foundation

Rustic Sage Counseling and Consulting is a service grounded in the Africana Worldview and designed to support people seeking to build the life they want through their power. In Portland, Oregon, I provide interactive relational individual psychotherapy with a self-empowerment and social justice focus. My particular focus is healing from trauma through a cultural lens that supports healthy self-expression and emotional freedom. I use the following modalities Eye Movement Desensitization, Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus therapies, and I embrace trauma-informed and Healing Centered Engagement protocols. Through trauma-informed protocol/Healing Centered Engagements, I support people in developing the skills to manage anxiety and depression symptoms. I also assist people through life changes and Identity development.

About Andre

In the fall of 2000, I received a Master's Degree in Social Work focusing on engaging the community and healthcare equity. I spent the next few years increasing my therapy skills, and in 2004 I obtained a license in Clinical Social Work. I completed my work in the doctoral program and earned a Ph.D. in Social Research and Social Work. I have combined activism and therapy, exploring social influence on people's mental health. I focus on the individual's wholeness and assist in strengthening or developing a support system to sustain their success. It is essential to provide culturally responsive therapy, and I ground my practice in the Africana Worldview.
